How Do They Work?
First and foremost, you must visit an orthodontist for a consultation where they scan your mouth. This precision scan gives them what they need to implement a custom treatment plan. Usually, you will receive a copy of your smile's digital preview before aligner creation.
After the mold is taken, your teeth impressions are utilized with 3D technology. Once approved, the digital models are sent to a production facility, and they create the aligners.
During treatment, you will receive new aligners every one to three weeks. Patients are required to wear them for 20 to 22 hours per day for effective treatment. A single set of aligners can effectively move your teeth by about one millimeter. As a result, multiple sets are necessary, and the complete treatment can require three to 24 months.
After treatment completion, a custom clear retainer will be made from your newly aligned teeth. Wear the retainer at night while sleeping to prevent malocclusion recurrence. Generally, aligner companies recommend replacing retainers once every six to 12 months.
